It's also one of the slimmest 3G mobile phones to be released. The phone weighs just 71g and measures a slender 103mm x 46.5mm x 9.4mm.

Given its slim design, the phone has very compact features, which may initially discourage some users who prefer larger controls. It's worthwhile persevering, however, because the features of the phone are truly exciting. Like others in the Sony Ericsson family, the W880i has a five-way navigation button as the central feature of its control pad. There are designated forward and back buttons, as well as buttons for internet browsing. Beneath the navigation panel, the phone has three sleek and slender rows of alphanumeric keys. Sony is developing a reputation for including great quality cameras in their mobile phones and the W880i is no exception. Since this is a 3G phone, video conferencing is supported. The phone therefore has dual cameras - a VGA camera on the front for video calling and a two megapixel camera on the rear for taking other digital photographs. Try to play around with the person looking straight to the camera or sideways focusing on some other object. A smile is also recommended unless you are specifically looking for a face that does not smile in order to send some message to the viewer.

Lighting: capturing the face skin color is mostly a matter of using the right lighting. The best lighting is natural lighting. Taking face photos outdoors during the day is good practice in order to capture the skin color and warmth. When using outdoors natural light position the person in a way that the sun light hits it from the side. Do not take face photo with the sun behind the person or right in front as these will result in shadings or overexposure respectively. With lighting coming from the side some shades might appear on the person face, to compensate for these simply use a soft fill-in flash. If you must shoot indoors and use artificial lighting try to use indirect light sources such as bounce flash or lights that illuminate the room instead of directly shining on the person.
